  5. These are shareware printer drivers for the 24 pin Panasonic KX-P1124
  6. printer, when used with DEGAS, DEGAS ELITE and as desktop print driver
  7. replacements.  They were created using Tom Hudson's printer driver
  8. construction set.  These drivers utilize the 1124's Epson LQ2500
  9. emulation mode, so they should work for the 2500 as well.  Heck, they
  10. work with my HP DeskJet's FX-80 emulator cartridge too!  Talk about
  11. surprises.

  13. Included are 3 drivers, each for a different resolution.  The
  14. resolutions are 120, 240 and 360 dpi.  Of course, printing speed is
  15. inversely proportional to resolution.  i.e. - the high res driver is
  16. damn slow!  And frankly for screen dumps and DEGAS printing of bit
  17. maps, its not worth it for slightly darker printing.  But... in the
  18. interests of personal choice, its there if you need it! (it might be
  19. useful for diagrams and text-filled pictures)

  21. All drivers support both vertical and horizontal printing.  They are
  22. optimized to fit the page. (and centered too!)  The aspect ratio is
  23. maintained as much as possible, so that circles print as circles.
  24. (what an idea huh?)  Of course, so as to maintain the vertical mode's
  25. aspect ratio, the drivers only fill the page across, not down.  Also,
  26. the vertical printing is not centered vertically, so that you can
  27. print more than one picture per page.  Let me know if you want
  28. vertical centering.  If there's enough call for it, I'll add new
  29. drivers for it.

  31. To use the drivers, just un-arc with ARC.  Place the drivers in the
  32. PRINTER folder of your DEGAS disk.  To replace your screen dump
  33. routine in your system with one of these drivers, download either
  34. INSTALL.ARC or PRTINS.ARC.  PRTINS.ARC will install one of the drivers
  35. at boot time.  INSTALL.ARC is a desk accessory that will let you
  36. change your driver and select vertical or horizontal printing.  I use
  37. both!  So I've got the driver I need automatically, and I can change
  38. modes when I need to.

  40. These drivers are shareware, not freeware.  They are the copyright of
  41. Missing Pieces, s/w & consulting.  More drivers will be uploaded as I
  42. get a hold of the devices.  As an incentive, those who register will
  43. recieve a list of the newly available drivers and updates to existing
  44. drivers.  Free updated drivers will be sent to all registered users
  45. that request them, via EasyPlex or mail if they send a blank diskette
  46. with their request.
